Maprium and The Medicine Access Channel partner to accelerate patient access to innovative medicines
Maprium, a technology provider for Managed Access Programs, today announced an important strategic partnership with The Medicine Access Channel, an innovative non-profit organisation dedicated to enabling early access to approved medicines that are not yet reimbursed or widely available.
The collaboration combines The Medicine Access Channel’s funding and orchestration model with Maprium’s vendor-agnostic platform to bridge the gap between regulatory approval and routine commissioning. Through Early Access Funding Agreements (EAFAs) with pharmaceutical companies, The Medicine Access Channel funds patient access to medicines prior to routine commissioning, removing financial and organisational barriers while reimbursement pathways are established.
Maprium provides the regulatory-compliant orchestration layer that connects pharmaceutical companies, clinicians, and distribution partners—supporting workflows from patient intake through to ordering, tracking, and reporting—while remaining independent from funding, clinical decisions, and logistics.
The partnership operates within a clearly defined, unbundled model: pharmaceutical companies supply medicines and retain data ownership; The Medicine Access Channel funds and coordinates access; distributors manage logistics and Maprium delivers the technology infrastructure.
Together, the organisations aim to expand equitable access to innovative therapies, support real-world data generation, and provide health systems with a structured and regulatory-compliant interim solution ahead of reimbursement decisions.
“This partnership represents a major step forward in delivering scalable, compliant and equitable access to innovative therapies,” said Romina Oxborough, CEO of Maprium. “By combining The Medicine Access Channel’s funding and orchestration capabilities with our platform, we are enabling a truly coordinated ecosystem that accelerates access without compromising independence, transparency or regulatory compliance.”
Walter Colasante from The Medicine Access Channel added: “Our mission is to ensure that patients are not left waiting for life-changing treatments. Partnering with Maprium allows us to operationalise that mission at scale, working collaboratively across stakeholders while maintaining our non-profit, patient-first approach.”

About Managed Access Programmes
Managed Access Programs (MAPs) (also known as compassionate use, expanded access, or named patient programs) provide patients with serious or life-threatening conditions early, regulated access to investigational or unlicensed medicines before commercial launch. These programs are essential for patients with no alternative options and enable biopharma companies to create access in a regulatory compliant way.
